Materials & Processes
We hand pick our solid timber from responsibly managed forests. With 80% of our solid timber being grown & felled within a 30 mile radius of our workshop.
We are very accustomed to working with (but not limited to) the likes of oak, ash & elm.As everything we produce is truly bespoke, there are no instruction manuals that come with our pieces. The majority of our products arrive to us as veneered or solid sheets, such as birch plywood, oak-veneered plywood or Fenix/Formica laminated plywood.
All of which are FSC rated, and where possible we will grain match doors and trim for a seamless aesthetic.
These sheets are then cut down to size with 0.1mm tolerances, and either having exposed plywood edges or with edges covered with 2mm solid edging - the choice is yours.
We use oils & stains derived from natural ingredients - safe for both you & our planet.
But we're not limited to wood as we also paint panels, using only high-quality water-based, low VOC paints.
Everything (and we mean everything), is finished by our own honest, working hands. Every millimetre is scrutinised and examined in our workshop before it reaches your property.
We work with a number of trusted worktop suppliers, whether you would like a recycled plastic / glass, natural stone, or solid timber worktop.
As we have done this countless times, we are more than happy to oversee the worktop process for you, ensuring timely templating & installation.
We love working with innovative material suppliers and have a bank of material samples for you to view - such as recycled glass worktops, recycled plastic doors or natural-stone veneered products (e.g. marble).
Or even better, surprise us with something you have come across!
At forma, we combine both traditional and modern production techniques, accomplishing the finest of finishes.
Whether it be traditionally constructed 5-panel shaker doors, or mortice & tenon joints for solid timber joinery.
